Naija Star Search: VJ Adams unveiled as host as main show begins

 The hunt for the coming Afrobeats megastar enters a new phase on Sunday as the group stage of Naija Star Search kicks off, with celebrity OAP, VJ Adams, as the show host. 

 

 Naija Star Search airs every Sunday at 8 pm on ST Nollywood Plus, ST Nollywood and ST Yoruba channels on StarTimes, and#StarTimesON mobile app 

Seventeen rivals, made up of youthful and promising music bents, were unveiled by the judges last Sunday. They will perform only Naija songs, starting with the classics and coevals to warm their vibes( gusto their swagger) and also singing original songs composed by themselves. 

 In the group phase, the rivals are grouped under the judges for mentoring. It's anticipated that the show’s judges, Kenny ‘ Keke ’ Ogungbe, ID Cabasa and Asha Gangali, will use their wealth of experience to bring out the stars in these youthful gems. 

 

 The rivals under Team Asha include Sparrowh, TOMs, MB Dre, Specko and Kachi; For Team Cabasa, there are Jaydbody, Greysky, Denerio, Esjay, Thekhaleed and Skimzo; while Team Keke has eMzez, Eniolá, Black Bella, SKIFFY, Melo and Jazzman. 

 They will contend to earn a place among the final seven to be prepped by the Kennis Music marker and given a platform to turn their raw bents into stars, in addition to the N10 million prize. 

 Away from the stimulating performances by the rivals, the show is full of drama, violent competition and passion as the twists of the game cause mixed feelings. 

Naija Star Search is a reality show aimed at discovering the coming generation of Afrobeats stars. 

 

 Comparing Naija Star Search to the future of Afrobeats, Kenny Ogungbe said, “ Afrobeats will noway die. The people sustaining it now are in theirmid-twenties and thirties. To sustain it, we need to prepare new bents in their teens so that in the coming ten times, we will still have those holding it. We're then for the future to project the beauty of Naija music. ” 

 The host, Adams Ibrahim Adebola, popularly known as VJ Adams, is a famed videotape jockey, TV presenter and superintendent patron. Formerly an OAP with Sound City, VJ Adams is extensively sought- later through Africa to anchor trendy shows.
